Dear :

We, the undersigned, have been forced to flee the political terror being perpetrated in the Kurdistan

Region of Iraq (KRG). We have since been settled in Europe and have European nationalities . We

have been continuing our peaceful and lawful campaign to expose the human rights abuses, wide-

scale corruption, abuse of power, unlawful and arbitrary arrest, the harassing of civilian activists and

have endeavoured to defend free speech and a free press.

Although we are living in democratic societies in Europe and we have adhered to all the principles

and legal rights to peaceful demonstration and to lawful activities over the whole period we have

lived in Europe this has not stopped the anti-democratic forces in the region threatening us with

terror and even physical liquidation. A number of attempts have been made to intimidate and

physically attack us, and evidence of these has been documented with the authorities in Germany,

Sweden and Belgium..

Despite our providing evidence of such attacks to the relevant authorities in Europe, these have not

stopped and the last one was an attempt on 15th July 2020 to assassinate the well known activist

Mr. Maki Amedi in the city of Berlin. What is perhaps even worse, they are now employing the same

tactics that the regime of Saddam Hussein used in Iraq: threatening and imprisoning the families

who remained behind in the Middle East of the activists and anyone who joined Kurdish liberation

movement, Peshmarge forces. They are threatening our families back home in order to silence us

and to prevent our continued peaceful and lawful activities in Europe.

In the light of the above mentioned threats and the danger they pose to so many innocent

individuals, we call upon on you to put pressure on the KRG government and specifically on the

prime minister Mr. Masror Barzani, who is still in charge of the security apparatus in the region, to

stop using threats by government agents, party apparatuses and officials to intimidate our families.

As the victims of this harassment and terror, which forced us to flee our homeland in the first place,

we are now being prevented from carrying out legitimate activities in our host countries. Our

families are being threatened once more as they were under the Saddam Hussein regime.
